Activity six

Conjunctions.

Conjunctions are joining words that help us to add more information to a simple statement, extending a sentence.

Use the following short sentence and help your child to extend it by adding a chunk on at the end. Try using some of these conjunctions - and, but, because, until, add on a chunk using 'who, which, that, when, while, where, before, after', etc.

For example, Teddy closed the curtains. This might become:

·  Teddy closed the curtains when the fireworks started.

·  Teddy closed the curtains but he still couldn’t sleep

·  Teddy closed the curtains until the morning.

·  Teddy closed the curtains because the sun was too bright
