Meet the team!
Our fabulous Food for Life Committee have been set up this year. The children in our Healthy Hub are Minnie, Lewis, Leni, Frank and Leyani. They are working with Miss Stow to help us to achieve the Silver Food for Life Award.
Out and About
As apart of our silver award, we visited Tesco to take part in a food to fork trail which taught us where different foods come from and how they are grown and which foods are healthy and unhealthy for our bodies. We shall be going to back to Tesco in the new year to go behind the counters in the bakery, butchers and fishmongers.
What have we been doing?
The Healthy Hub Committee wanted to find out what everyone in our school (including the teachers!) ate for breakfast. We have sent home a survey which children and staff will complete for a week and send back for us to find out what is the most popular. The most popular food to have for breakfast was cereal and fruit. The most popular drink was milk.
We have also been looking at how we can improve our dinner times in school and asked all of the children in each class what they thought of dinner times and how they can be improved. One of the most popular suggestions from the questionnaire was to have their teachers eat their dinner in the hall with their class. Miss Stow and the Healthy Hub organised how we could have a teacher in the hall everyday and produced a timetable. There is one teacher from each year group eating their dinner in the hall everyday.
