Welcome to the Caterpillars!

Hello and welcome!

*Meet the adults in the Caterpillar class*

The teachers in the Caterpillars class are Mrs Walton (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning), Mrs Talbot (Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday).  The teaching assistants are Miss Goldacre and Mrs Taylor. We love teaching the Caterpillars and we are so proud of all of their achievements!

If you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you!

*Our Christian Value for the term*

Our Christian Value this term is ‘Respect.’

Our value for this term is Respect. Being respectful is one of the key ingredients to being the best person you can be. “Every human being, of whatever origin, of whatever station, deserves respect. We must each respect others even as we respect ourselves.”

Respect is also one of our school rules (Ready, Respectful and Safe) and is a value we hold dear in school. The children learn to recognise respect in others, while also showing respect themselves.

“Respect other people's feelings. It might mean nothing to you, but it could mean everything to them.”  Roy T. Bennett.

They also learn the importance of showing respect to our belongings and to our environment. The children are developing their understanding of how we can respect our beautiful world and what we can further do as a school, as a Plastic Free School.

When it comes to climate change, “be the change you wish to be in the world.” Mahatma Gandhi.

*Our Learning for this term*
Autumn Term 2 2025

This term we are learning all about autumn festivals and celebrations.

We start off with Bonfire Night and will be doing lots of firework pictures with chalk, paint and pens. We'll be exploring this both inside and outside.

We then move on to Remembrance Day and the significance of the poppy. We will be exploring printing poppies with our fingers and with bottles.

Lots of our learning is going to be based around stories such as Room on the Broom, The Gingerbread Man and Dear Santa.

Finally, we will move on to Christmas and enjoy decorating the classroom and learn all about the nativity story. There will be lots of lovely Christmas crafts and we look forward to learning Christmas songs to share at our Chrsitmas singalong.

Phonics teaching will also start this term. We will be starting to listen to the sounds we can hear at the beginning of words. We will be talking about the sound (not the letter name) that our name begins with, for example Rupert begins with rrrrrrr not ‘Ar’ and Maggie begins with mmmmmm not ‘Em’. We will find objects around the classroom beginning with the sounds ssss, a, t, p.

Our maths teaching will also begin with exploring numbers to five and how they are made up of other numbers.

What an exciting term with so much to look forward to!
