Our St Faith's Governors

Welcome to the Governors section! Our Governors come from a wide range of backgrounds and each bring their own skills and expertise to our Governing body. The Governors meet each term and the minutes from the meetings will be available, on request.

The Governing Body of

St Faith’s Church of England Infant and Nursery School

The Governing Body has been reconstituted in line with Statutory guidance on 01/09/2015. There are 9 appointed Governors. These are made up of:

  • 2 elected Parent Governors
  • 1 nominated LA Governor
  • 1 elected staff Governor
  • 3 Foundation Governors
  • 1 Co-opted Governor
  • 1 Head Teacher

The Governing Body has adopted the Circle Model of Governance. At every Full Governing Body meeting, there is a Finance Meeting and 3 times a year there is a Standards Meeting, as a part of the Full Governing Body meeting.

Full Governing Body

Chair of Governors: Dr E. Van Der Zee

The governing body fulfils a strategic and co-ordinating role in school. They  ensure that the school offers a broad and balanced curriculum in line with National requirements, review curriculum reports, monitor the views of staff, parents and pupils, review school performance data, provide strategic advice and guidance on staffing and personnel issues.

During the Finance Meeting at each Full Governing Body meeting:

Finance – initial oversight and management of the annual budget drawn up by the school, maintaining an appropriate system of internal financial control, agreeing priorities for revenue and capital funding.

Staffing - recommend the staffing structure of the school, oversee the recruitment and selection of staff, adopt and implement the Disciplinary and Grievance Policy and Procedures, provide strategic advice and guidance on staffing and personnel issues.

Premises and Health and Safety – monitor the implementation of the Health and Safety Policy, oversee the drafting and recommendations of the School Accessibility Plan, the School Lettings Policy and Arrangements and the use of school premises both during and outside the school day, make recommendations to ensure that maintenance, decoration, and equipment/furniture renewal is planned and budgeted for and review the use of premises, equipment and resources and ensure they match the requirements of SDP priorities.

They consider and determine the need for capital works at the school, in line with the school’s SDP and the authority’s Asset Management Plan priorities, liaising with interested parties, as appropriate and making prudent use of the school’s devolved capital budget.

A number of further committees are established as and when required including:

Pupil Discipline Committee and Appeal, Staff Discipline Committee and Appeal, Pupil Admissions Committee, Pay Committee, Head Teacher Performance Management Committee.
