Nursery: Caterpillars

Welcome to the Caterpillars!

Hello and welcome!

*Meet the adults in the Caterpillar class*

The teachers in the Caterpillars class are Mrs Walton (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning), Mrs Talbot (Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday).  The teaching assistants are Miss Goldacre and Mrs Taylor. We love teaching the Caterpillars and we are so proud of all of their achievements!

If you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you!

*Our Christian Value for the term*

Our Christian value this term is ‘Friendship.’

Friendship is such an important value in our society, with children often spending more time with their friends than with family.

Jesus tells stories of the heavenly banquet to which all are invited. The barriers between people are broken down in a loving community around God, and Jesus had stern words to say to those who refused to recognise that all are included in this community of friendship.

True friendship enables each person to grow and ensures that the unique individuality of each person is recognised. All this echoes the value placed by God on the preciousness of each person.

‘A friend loves at all times.’ (Proverbs 17:17)

*Our Learning for this term*
Autumn Term 1 2025

This term the children in Caterpillar Class, our Nursery class start the year by learning about the routines in Nursery.  They will learn how to come into school independently and hang up their coats and put away they belongings.  They will begin to develop relationships with the staff members in the class and the other children, developing new friendships and learning how to share and take turns.  They will understand the importance of personal hygiene.

The children will explore inside provision and outdoor provision and begin to take part in key group time, sitting for a short time to read a story and take part in small circle time activities.

Each term we have a focus story - this term our focus story is Monkey Puzzle, this will be a stimulus for our learning about the children and who is important to them.  Where they live, the importance in keeping clean and healthy - including the importance of oral hygiene.

We will begin to learn about different feelings that we have and start to understand how we can manage some of our big feelings.

We are very excited about getting to know all of our new starters this term and finding out what they enjoy and what gets them excited to learn and come to school!
