Full Governing Body

Chair of Governors: Dr E. Van Der Zee

The governing body fulfils a strategic and co-ordinating role in school. They have established a number of committees to which it delegates day to day responsibility for the oversight of various aspects of the running of the school.

They also ensure that the school offers a broad and balanced curriculum in line with National requirements, review curriculum reports, monitor the views of staff, parents and pupils, review school performance data, provide strategic advice and guidance on staffing and personnel issues.

Resources Committee

Finance – initial oversight and management of the annual budget drawn up by the school, maintaining an appropriate system of internal financial control, agreeing priorities for revenue and capital funding.

Staffing - recommend the staffing structure of the school, oversee the recruitment and selection of staff, adopt and implement the Disciplinary and Grievance Policy and Procedures, provide strategic advice and guidance on staffing and personnel issues.

Premises and Health and Safety – monitor the implementation of the Health and Safety Policy, oversee the drafting and recommendations of the School Accessibility Plan, the School Lettings Policy and Arrangements and the use of school premises both during and outside the school day, make recommendations to ensure that maintenance, decoration, and equipment/furniture renewal is planned and budgeted for and review the use of premises, equipment and resources and ensure they match the requirements of SDP priorities.

They consider and determine the need for capital works at the school, in line with the school’s SDP and the authority’s Asset Management Plan priorities, liaising with interested parties, as appropriate and making prudent use of the school’s devolved capital budget.

A number of further committees are established as and when required including:
