Pupil Premium

Information about Pupil Premium

At St Faith’s, we support all our pupils. We do this by providing high-quality classroom teaching, supplemented by interventions to support vulnerable learners, as and when required.

The School Leadership Team and Governing Body monitor the impact of all spending and interventions, including the Pupil Premium support and funding.

We endeavour to encourage parents and carers to apply for Free School Meals (FSM).

From September 2026, Free School Meal (FSM) eligibility has been expanded to include all children from households receiving Universal Credit who attend eligible schools. There are now two categories of benefits-based free school meals: Targeted FSM and Expanded FSM. Details of these can be found in our Pupil Premium policy.

A child’s entitlement is checked each year and transactional protection will be put into place for children who were recognised as Targeted FSM and no longer entitled.

Our Aims

At St Faith’s we aim to ‘construct a curriculum that is ambitious and designed to give all learners, particularly the most disadvantaged, the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life.’ We seek to ensure that our curriculum provides experiences and opportunities for all children, particularly the most disadvantaged. Some children arrive at our school with poorer experiences than others, in both their learning, communication and play. What we do, through our curriculum, quality interactions and the opportunities we provide, potentially makes all the difference for children. It is our aim to ensure that children experience the awe and wonder of the world in which they live.

We aim to ensure that every child leaves our school excited about learning and determined to succeed, with ambition and a positive mindset. We want to equip them with confidence, resilience and a passion for justice and equality.  These qualities will enable them to thrive and to champion kindness and fairness at all stages of their future lives. We want to provide all children with the skills to enable them to confidently reach their full potential by building upon their self-confidence and self-belief.

The targeted and strategic use of Pupil Premium funding will support us in achieving our aims and ensure that for all children, including those who are disadvantaged, opportunities and experiences enable them to close the gap both socially and academically with their peers. We tailor what we provide to suit the needs of individual and small groups of children to ensure that our ‘St Faiths Family’ provides these children and their families with the best foundations for learning and life possible.

This is set out in our Pupil Premium Strategy, providing detailed support at three strategic levels. It focusses on training and CPD for different members of the team to provide upskilled support, provision and experiences to benefit all children, including those disadvantaged. The second level focusses on Targeted Academic Support to meet the needs and close the gap for our disadvantaged children through intervention, additional group work and in-class support. The third level offers wider strategies to support wellbeing, behaviour and attendance, working with our disadvantaged children and their families as needed.

Is your child eligible? If you believe you are eligible or are unsure, we really do encourage you to apply.

Eligibility Categories

  • Targeted FSM: For households receiving Universal Credit with an annual net earned income of £7,400 or less (plus other qualifying benefits like Income-related ESA, the guarantee element of Pension Credit, or Child Tax Credit). This category qualifies the child for free meals and unlocks additional school funding like Pupil Premium
  • Expanded FSM: For households receiving Universal Credit with an income above £7,400. This covers the cost of the free school meal only and does not attract extra disadvantaged funding like Pupil Premium.

Since September 2014, all children in Reception and Years 1 and 2 have qualified for free school meals, regardless of their family income, but only the children who would qualify for free meals under the above income-based criteria will receive the pupil premium.

If your child qualifies for free school meals, it’s important that you tell their school – even if they take a packed lunch – as this enables them to claim pupil premium. Please visit https://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/school-pupil-support/apply-free-school-meals
