Handwriting is taught across the school based on the Penpals programme.

It incorporates a range of gross motor and fine motor activities. It focuses on the accurate formation of all letters before moving on to the positioning and sizing of all letters.

We aim for all of our children to develop:

• A comfortable and effective pencil grip
• A comfortable and effective sitting position and posture
• The correct formation for all letters
• The correct positioning and sizing of all letters
• Automaticity in their handwriting .... to make it one less thing to have to think about when writing! 

This is achieved through a range of activities, support, lessons and personalised intervention as needed.
