Dragonflies

Welcome to the Dragonflies!

Welcome to the Dragonfly class. We are the oldest children in the school. We are the Year 2 children. Being the oldest in the school means that we have lots of special and very important jobs to do: we have a computer technician, Office Assistants, Change Agents, Eco Warriors and Fruit Monitors. We love having lots of responsibility!

The grown ups in Year 2 are Mrs Gill and Mrs Wraith  (class teachers), Mrs. Hooton (teaching assistant) and Mrs Bell (teaching assistant).
Mrs Wraith will be teaching at the beginning of the week- Mondays andTuesdays . Then Mrs Gill will teach all day Wednesday,Thursday and Friday.

The Dragonflies have made a super start to the summer term! Well done, Dragonflies. We are so proud of you all.

We have already become excited with the topic 'Another cup of tea , Your Majesty?' We have learnt about the history of the Queen and her family. This week we have celebrated her 90th birthday, creating leaflets, letters, and learning how she has become the longest reigning Monarch. Working out her timeline and family tree has given us an understanding about her life and her family with lots of opportunities to talk, ask questions and share what we have learnt. With Buckingham Palace being situated in our capital city we have been able to investigate other famous landmarks in London. We have learnt about other cities in the United Kingdom and we will soon learn about where the Queen's other royal residencies are.

Come and have a look in our classroom at the wonderful collages we have created of Buckingham Palace...

Mrs Barstow is the Governor and a friend of the Dragonflies class. She comes in each week to hear us read.
