Reception: Butterflies

Welcomtthe Butterflies!

Hello and welcome!

*Meet the Butterfly grown-ups*

The grown-ups in the Butterfly class are Miss Wright and Mrs De'Ath. We also have lots of help from Mr Richardson and Mrs Gilmore!

We all love teaching the Butterflies and we are so proud of their achievements!

If you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you!

*Our Christian Value for the term*

Justice

When we focus on Justice, we are making sure that everyone is treated equally and fairly. In the Bible, we are told that justice is about 'opening your mouth for those who can't speak for themselves' (Proverbs). Jesus' ministry speaks of hope for people who are poor and oppressed - some of his strongest critiques are spoken against the mighty and the powerful. How can you make things fair for everyone?Do you treat everyone equally? Have you ever shown courage when making the right but difficult choices?

 *Our Learning this Term*

We love learning in the Butterflies!

This half term we are continuing to develop our love of learning and stories. We are focusing our learning each week around a focus child's favourite story, starting off with Whatever Next! We will use each story to inspire our play, writing and creative activities. We continue to follow the interests of individual children, learning 'in the moment' to extend their skills and understanding.

This term we will be learning all about finding one more and one less and how to solve addition and subtraction in maths.

PHONICS

We have now learnt these letter sounds and are using them to read and write different words.

s a t i p

c k ck e u
r h b l ll

We have also learnt to read and write these tricky words. We can't sound them out that's what makes them tricky!

Keep practising at home too!

In the Butterflies we are continuing to develop our phonics and reading skills. We are learning new sounds daily and are trying hard to use these in our writing. We are all trying to read regularly at home and this is making a real difference to our learning.

Our new sounds this term are:

ch sh th ng
ai ee igh oa
oo ow ar er
ur or oi ear
air ure

In maths, we are focusing on teen numbers and what these mean. Alongside this we will be practising ordering numbers and adding groups together.

We are continuing to learn different stories, follow the children's interest and have fun as we extend our skills and understanding.

Beegu!

What an amazing week learning all about Beegu! We love Beegu! We have retold the story, thought about what she was saying when the tree and rabbits would not listen and even made her a new spaceship! Well done Butterflies!

Feel Fabulous Friday - Community Heroes!

We all enjoyed our 'Feel Fabulous Friday' by discussing and celebrating the heroes in our community who are going above and beyond during these difficult times.

We shared our best hero poses and took turns to describe our heroes. Here is what we had to say ...

Bella shared "My mummy for looking after me, cuddling me and taking me to bed."

Reuben told us "The police for keeping us safe."

Tobin explained "Nurses because they help us to get better."

Rowan said "Doctors for always taking care of us."

Kian mentioned "My friend Logan because he loves me!"

Arthur replied "Fireman are heroes for putting out fires."

Dillakshmii told us "Miss Wright is our hero for always taking care of us and always learning and playing with us."

Logan added "Mr Richardson because he gets ice packs if we hurt ourselves."

Kira said "Miss Wright .... always here."

Sofia shared "Mrs De'Ath for looking after us."

Kyra said "My mum and dad because they love me so much."

Brilliant ideas Butterflies, keep being amazing!
