Reception: Butterflies

Welcomtthe Butterflies!

Hello and welcome!

*Meet the Butterflies grown-ups*

The grown-ups in the Butterflies class are Mrs Talbot,  Mrs Jones, Mrs Madin and Mrs Soulsby. Mrs Talbot teaches Mondays to Wednesdays.  Mrs Jones teaches Thursdays and Fridays.

We all love teaching the Butterflies and we are so proud of their achievements!

If you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you!

*Our Christian Value for the term*

Justice

Our school value for this term is ‘Justice’. Justice means more than making things ‘fair’. In order for people to live together happily, in a just community, it is important to have rules or laws that everybody sticks to. Imagine if there were no rules for people driving cars on the road!

Justice means giving all people what it is right and fair for them to have: life, health, freedom and dignity. It is about acting out of a concern for what is right.

Justice means taking turns and sharing, playing by the rules, accepting responsibility, avoiding blaming others when we have done something wrong, and listening to the ideas of others. Our special bible story this term is "The Rich Man and Lazarus". We will be learning how to show justice ourselves as well as being able to recognise other people who show justice.

All of the children and adults in school will be recognising children who demonstrate an understanding of justice, both inside and outside of school. This is rewarded and celebrated at the end of term in our special Values Celebration Worship.

*Our Learning this Term*

We love learning in the Butterflies! In the  Spring  Term we learnt about  signs of Spring .  We began our learning journey by exploring stories about animals and farms.   We created our own role play farm shop, made prints and repeating patterns using wheels and grew our own magic beanstalk.  Mrs Madin brought in some tadpoles from her pond and we watched them grow too.  We even had a visit from some baby chicks and got to hold them.  We learnt about the Christian celebration of Easter and how important it is to some people. This term we will continue to focus on the natural world and ask ourselves wondering questions. We have already noticed our bug hotel getting full and we will be going on a mini-beast hunt too.   We will, of course, be following our own interests and this has already led us to making an ice cream parlour and going to the shop to buy ingredients to make our own ice cream!   Every new day in the Butterflies is an adventure for adults and children alike. I wonder where our learning will take us next?!  We LOVE coming to school!
