Year 2: Spiders

Welcomtthe Spiders!

Hello and welcome!

*Meet the Spider grown-ups*

The grown-ups in the Spiders class are Mrs Kemal and Mrs Parkinson.

We all love teaching the Spiders and we are so proud of their achievements!

If you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you!

*Our Christian Value for the term*

Justice

Our school value for this term is ‘Justice’. Justice means more than making things ‘fair’. In order for people to live together happily, in a just community, it is important to have rules or laws that everybody sticks to. Imagine if there were no rules for people driving cars on the road!

Justice means giving all people what it is right and fair for them to have: life, health, freedom and dignity. It is about acting out of a concern for what is right.

Justice means taking turns and sharing, playing by the rules, accepting responsibility, avoiding blaming others when we have done something wrong, and listening to the ideas of others. Our special bible story this term is "The Rich Man and Lazarus". We will be learning how to show justice ourselves as well as being able to recognise other people who show justice.

All of the children and adults in school will be recognising children who demonstrate an understanding of justice, both inside and outside of school. This is rewarded and celebrated at the end of term in our special Values Celebration Worship.

*Our Learning this Term*

Wriggle and Crawl

We are in our 6th and final term of the year before our amazing year 2 children continue their learning journeys to year 3, and what an exciting term it is!

Forest School, bug hunts and planting are just a few of the awesome outdoor activities we will be taking part in this term! Each Monday the children will take part in Forest school where they will learn about mini beasts, micro habitats, create mini beast homes, organise snail races, and create art using natural materials. This term we will also be learning about the life cycle of a bee, learn about what plants need in order to survive, investigate insects and so much more!

We will be basing our written work around the story of Jack and the beanstalk, non fiction reports on mini beasts and creepy crawly poetry.

In Maths we are polishing up our skills in multiplication, money, shape and time ready for year 3.

Of course, not forgetting a fabulous end to the year with our farewell assembly.

We can't wait to share more learning and excitement with you through Twitter throughout the term.

Keep an eye out on our Twitter page @SpidersStF and weekly newsletters for regular updates on what we are up to.
