Year 2: Spiders

Welcomtthe Spiders!

Hello and welcome to the Spiders!

*Meet the Spiders' grown-ups*

The grown-ups in the Spiders class are Miss Locke, Mrs Gilmore and Miss Robins. We love teaching the Spiders and we are so proud of their achievements!

If you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you!

*Our Christian Value for the term*

Friendship is an undisputed value in our society, with children often spending more time with their friends than with family.

Jesus tells stories of the heavenly banquet to which all are invited. The barriers between people are broken down in a loving community around God. Jesus had stern words to say to those who refused to recognise that all are included in this community of friendship.

Trust, feeling comfortable in each other’s company, being able to share joys and sorrows are all features of friendship and these are things of immense value. True friendship enables each person to grow and ensures that the unique individuality of each person is recognised. All this echoes the value placed by God on the preciousness of each person.

“Why did you do all this for me?' he asked. 'I don't deserve it. I've never done anything for you.'

'You have been my friend,' replied Charlotte. 'That in itself is a tremendous thing.”

*Our Learning for this term*

We are so excited for our first term of learning in Year 2!

Our topic is Squeak, Meow, Roar! We will be learning all about animals and we can't wait!

In Science, we are learning about animals and their babies, all about where they might live and how they survive. We will also learn about all the things humans need to keep safe and healthy, including all about the importance of a balanced diet, exercise and keeping ourselves clean.

In Music, we are listening to Peter and the Wolf. We will be thinking about how the instruments represent the animals in the story and how the music makes us feel.

In Forest School, we are learning all about animal footprints! We will be hunting for footprints and creating our own footprint trails. We will also be using natural resources to explore printing, such as leaves.

In Geography, we will be learning about maps and will have the chance to explore contrasting locations around Lincoln and different parts of the world.

Keep a close eye on Twitter to see all of the fabulous things that we are getting up to!
